J. Hugh Gentry

July 6, 1940 — September 19, 2020

Mr. J. Hugh Gentry, 80, of Newnan, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2020, at his home. Mr. Gentry was born July 6, 1940, in Buchanan, son of the late J. P. and Tallulah Blackman Gentry. A veteran of service in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, he had lived in Coweta County since 1987 and retired from Yamaha Corporation. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Hogansville. Survivors include his son and daughter in-law, James and Ann Gentry of Newnan; daughter and son in-law, Melissa and Jim Fairfull of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Sherry Corley of Newnan; and grandchildren, Nicholas Gentry and Jessica Gentry. He was preceded in death by his wife, Claudelina Sanchez Gentry. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 22, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Terry Rainwater will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Monday night. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
