MR. FRED JONES
Mr. Fred Jones, 74, of LaGrange, died Saturday, January 23, 2010, at West Georgia Medical Center.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 26, at Faith Baptist Church in LaGrange. The Rev. Bruce Freeman, the Rev. Brad Thompson, and the Rev. S. T. Janney will officiate and interment will be in Meadoway Gardens in LaGrange.
Mr. Jones was born September 2, 1935, in Troup County, son of the late Huey and Mattie McCurry Jones. An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was employed ten years with the LaGrange Police Department, where he served as a sergeant and detective, was a lifelong resident of Troup County, and was a retired used car dealer, having operated Fred Jones Used Cars in LaGrange for many years. He was a founding deacon and charter member of Faith Baptist Church, where he served the Lord until his death.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Faye Heath Jones of LaGrange; daughters, Glenda Jones Swords and Donna Jones Richardson (Phillip); sister, Virginia Jones, all of LaGrange; eight grandchildren, Crystal Woods Moseley (Tommy), Justin Woods (Stephanie), Joshua Watts (Rhonda), Michael Watts (Mary), Chase Watts (Jennifer), Victoria Swords Parramore, Bo Anderson, Whitney Anderson; nine great-grandchildren, Sam Moseley, Xander Woods, Ansley Watts, McKenzie Watts, Lilly Watts, Keithlee Parramore, Luke Woods, Larianna Woods, CJ Watts; additional family members, April Thurman, David McConnell, Kelsey Privratsky, Viktoria Richardson; several cousins, nieces, nephews, and many great and longtime friends.
Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
