MRS. IDORA B. SLATON
Mrs. Idora Brooks Slaton, 92, of Grantville, died Thursday, April 3, 2008, at Newnan Hospital Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 5, at the First United Methodist Church of Grantville. The Reverend Richard Campbell will officiate and interment will be in the Grantville Cemetery.
Mrs. Slaton, affectionately known as Nanny, was born March 30, 1916, in Chambers county, Alabama, daughter of the late Albert Elbert Brooks and the late Martha Elizabeth Smith Brooks. She lived in Coweta county most of her life, was retired from Grantville Mills, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Grantville.
Survivors include her daughter in-law, Billie Ruth Slaton of Grantville; a sister, Edna Jackson of Newnan; grandchildren, Jimmy Slaton, Jenny Slaton, Pam Hendricks, and Sandra Harrison, all of Grantville, and Lynda Phillips and Mike Phillips, both of Newnan; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Emory Jackson (Jack) Slaton; her daughter, Thelma Slaton Campion; and her son, Bobby Slaton.
The Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
