MR. HUBERT J. WHITLOCK
Mr. Hubert J. Whitlock, 85, of Hogansville, died Sunday, March 17, 2013, at Gentiva Hospice at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 21, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with the Reverend Randall Hodge and Emmett Clark officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 until 2 Thursday afternoon.
Mr. Whitlock was born April 2, 1927, in Fayetteville, son of the late George and Yalu Louise Harris Whitlock. An Army veteran of World War Two, he served in the first wave of the 29th Infantry at Omaha Beach on D-Day. He was a member of American Legion Post 186 in Greenville, was Baptist by faith, and retired as a captain from the College Park Police Department after 27 years of service.
Survivors include his sons and daughters in-law, Larry and Sandy Whitlock, Steve and Cindy Whitlock, all of Hogansville; step-children, Sheri Crawford of Hogansville, Debbie McFarland of Lithonia, and Gurukirn of Altamonte Springs, FL; sister, Frances Smith of Hogansville; brother, Roy Whitlock, also of Hogansville; grandchildren, James Whitlock, Stephanie Periatt, Laura Perdue, Garrett Whitlock, and Crystal Powell; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Austin Whitlock.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meriwether Co. Recreation Dept., 17234 Roosevelt Highway, Bldg. B, Greenville, GA 30222.
