Horace E. "Hal" Gable

Mr. Horace E. "Hal" Gable, 83, of LaGrange, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2023, at Hospice LaGrange.

Mr. Gable was born December 2, 1939, in Troup County, son of the late Emory and Julia Gray Gable. A resident of LaGrange most of his life, he was employed in textiles for many years and retired as a lab technician for the Freudenberg-NOK plant in LaGrange. He enjoyed playing pool and was a talented carpenter, having built the home that he and his wife lived in for 40 years.

Survivors include his son, Daryl Gable of Lanett, AL; grandchildren, Lindsey and William Walker, Cecily and Jacob Nelson, James Edwards, and Jennifer Strickland; great-grandchildren, Emily, Jade, Milo, William, Jr., Ashtyn, Natalie, Emerson, Caroline, Demarkel, James, Jalynn, Landon, Donald Ray, Olivia, Dawson, Dakota; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Looney Gable; daughter, Rhonda Gable Edwards; daughter in-law, Pamela Regina Gable; brothers, Jim Gable, Bill Gable; and sisters, June Gable and Brenda Gable.

The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Friday, July 21, at Dunson Baptist Church in LaGrange. The Reverend S.T. Janney, the Reverend Kenneth Cole, and the Reverend Robert Looney will officiate and interment will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Thursday.
