Mr. Hiram J. Darden. 87, of LaGrange, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Hospice LaGrange.
Mr. Darden was born November 15, 1933, in Monroe County, son of the late Harry Dumas Darden and Carrie English Darden. A veteran of service in the U.S. Army, he began a career in the railroad industry with Seaboard Air Line and retired as a trainmaster from CSX Railroad in 1985 after more than 30 years of service. He was currently a member of Loyd Presbyterian Church in LaGrange, but had been a long-time member of Greenville Presbyterian Church, where he had been a soloist and member of the choir, and worked diligently for the church. He enjoyed gardening and wood-working and served as a volunteer at Callaway Gardens for 35 years.
Survivors include his wife, Regina Noggle Darden; son and daughter in-law, Jeffery and Karen Darden, all of LaGrange; brother and sister in-law, Harry and Carol Darden of Griffin; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jacqueline Darden.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 17, at the graveside in the Sharon Cemetery in Sharon, GA, with the Reverend Steve Tidwell officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Greenville Presbyterian Church.
