MR. HERMAN E. CHAPMAN
Mr. Herman E. (Cotton) Chapman, 85, of Hogansville, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015, at Columbus Midtown Medical Center.
Mr. Chapman was born March 12, 1929, in Manchester, son of the late George and Etta Belle Chapman. A veteran of service in the U. S. Marine Corps, he lived in Hogansville until recently making his home with his daughter in Franklin, and was a member of Highland Baptist Church. He retired from Standard Coffee Co. and then operated Chapman Grocery in Hogansville.
Survivors include his daughter, Cathy Scott of Franklin; sons and daughters in-law, Ronnie and Susan Chapman, Mike and Lynn Chapman, Barry Chapman, all of Hogansville, and Joey Chapman of LaGrange; sister, Jeanette Lanier of Manchester; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Amelia White Chapman.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 11, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home. The Reverend Terry Rainwater and the Reverend Alan Kirk will officiate, with interment in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Saturday night.
