Herbert E. Jiles

Mr. Herbert E. Jiles, 84, of Franklin, passed away Friday, July 28, 2023, at his home.

Mr. Jiles was born July 23, 1939 in Carroll County, son of the late Ralph Eugene Jiles and the late Lola Ivey Jiles. He was a veteran of service in the U.S. Army and served in Germany and Korea. A resident of Heard County for the past 15 years, he previously lived in Columbus and in Carroll County and owned a trucking company which operated dump trucks prior to his retirement.

Survivors include his daughter, Rebecca Diane Hill, of Carrollton; brothers, Wendell Ray Jiles of Franklin. Hulett Jiles of Carrollton; sisters, Carol Farmer of Carrollton, Charlotte Monroe of Orange City, FL; step-children, Darlene Horsley of Blairsville, Kathi Moeller of Fort Wayne, IN, Denise Harris of Huntertown, IN, Todd Hazelbaker of Muncie, IN; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 20 years, Shirley Joan Searing Jiles.

The family is honoring Mr. Jiles's wishes that he be cremated and that no memorial service be conducted.
