Mrs. Helen East Thompson, 92, of Hogansville, passed away Monday, May 31, 2021, at Hospice LaGrange.
Mrs. Thompson was born February 21, 1929, in Cleburne County, AL, daughter of the late William and Belma White East. She was a resident of Hogansville most of her life, retired from NOK Manufacturing in LaGrange, and served as a private duty caregiver following her retirement. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Grace Covenant Worship Center. She loved family gatherings most of all. She was very rarely idle; if not working, she was in the kitchen cooking or in the yard gardening.
Survivors include her daughter and son in-law, Joyce and Randall Laster of Five Points, AL; sons and daughters in-law, Buddy and Lisa Thompson of Carrollton, Bennie and Connie Thompson of Hogansville; sisters, Eura Franklin of Azle, TX and Dorothy Ligon of Delta, AL; eight grandchildren, including Molly who was very special to her; twelve great-grandchildren including Madi who was also very special to her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Newman A. Thompson, and her infant son, David Thompson.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 3, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Mike Hornsby and the Reverend Ken Bowman will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Thursday.
