MRS. HELEN MASSEY Mrs. Helen Daniel Massey, 98, of the Lone Oak Community of Meriwether County, died Monday, June 23, 2014, at LaGrange Nursing and Rehab. Mrs. Massey was born April 28, 1916, in Meriwether County, daughter of the late Starke Ellis Daniel and Nell Denney Daniel. A lifelong resident of Meriwether County, she was a member of Union Baptist Church in St. Marks and was the wife of the late Charles Frederick Massey. She was known as an outstanding cook, who loved gardening and maintaining her yard, and enjoyed visiting and entertaining on her front porch. Survivors include her son, Fred Massey, Jr. and his wife, Diane of Lone Oak; brothers and sisters in-law, J. C. and Frances Daniel of Hogansville, Alfred and Betty Daniel of Lone Oak; granddaughters, Dedra Watson, Kellie Davis, and Heather Steed; ten great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 25, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Searcy Jackson will officiate and interment will be in Union Baptist Church Cemetery in St. Marks. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Wednesday. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
