Hazel Burson Thomas

MRS. HAZEL THOMAS Mrs. Hazel Burson Thomas, 79, of LaGrange, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2008, at her home. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 1, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Alvin Lingenfelter and Dr. Dan Crawford will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville. Mrs. Thomas was born August 21, 1928, in Hogansville, daughter of the late James Gay Burson and the late Ruth Thrower Burson. She was married for sixty years to the late Joseph C. Thomas, Jr., was a lifelong resident of Troup county, and was a member of Dunson United Methodist Church. She is remembered by her children and grandchildren as the most dedicated wife and mother in the world. Survivors include a devoted daughter, Terri Thomas Ashley; sons and daughters in-law, Joseph III (Joey) and Nancy Thomas and Randy and Jan Thomas, all of LaGrange; four grandchildren, Chad Thomas, Jeff and Brianne Thomas, and Jody Thomas, all of LaGrange, and Jamie and Melissa Thomas of Wylie, TX; five great-grandchildren, Erin Thomas, Christopher Thomas, Hannah Thomas, Austin Thomas, and Katie Thomas; and a brother and sister in-law, Jimmy and Jean Burson of LaGrange. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, J.C. Thomas, Jr., and her grandson, Chris Thomas. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
