Harvey Charles Kee, age 80, passed away peacefully at home on December 1, 2025.
He was born on July 17, 1945 in Albany, GA, son of the late Eva Astalee Jones Kee and Harvey Clinton Kee. A resident of LaGrange since 1971, he retired from West Point Pepperell Dixie Division after 37 years of service, and then went on to retire from Troup County School System Transportation Department after 14 years of service. While he was employed with the TCSS, he received recognition for his safety and driving skills.
Mr. Kee was known for many wonderful attributes: his great faith and love of God, his amazing love for his family, his patience and willingness to help any and everyone. He was honest, hard-working, conservative, and a great role model for his kids and grandkids. He was a huge presence when he entered a room, a gentle giant. He loved to joke and make people smile. He was a wonderful Daddy/Pop and Paw Paw (the best) and led by example. In his younger years, he loved following his kids and grandkids in all their sports and activities. He loved working on cars, watching westerns, and anything related to history. He didn't volunteer advice or his opinion, but when asked, he always gave the best advice you could ask for. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan. He is described by his sons-in-law as a devoted family man, a great friend to have and "the last of the John Wayne's"
Mr. Kee is survived by his children, Jo Shannon (Roy) Scott, Wayne (Kristi) Kee, Richard (Allison) Kee, and Angie (Bobby) Cardwell; sister, Karey Ann (Johnny) Murphy; sister-in-law, Nancy Kee; brother-in-law, Danny (Ann) Murray; grandchildren, Caroline (Alex) Oglesby, Charlie Levi Scott, Bailey (Darryl) Dodd, Murphi Kee, Will Lanxton, Zach (Summer) Lanxton, Keigan (Lauryn) Crowder, Chelci (Will) Turner, Evie (Trey) Messer and Charles Brenton Cardwell; 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn Phyllis Murray Kee; son, Danny Randall Hubbard; brothers, Harold Lee Kee and Danny Irvin Kee, grandson, Robert Lee Cardwell, III.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 4, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Brad Thompson will officiate and interment will be in Hillview East Cemetery in LaGrange.
