Harvey Joe Hoffner

Mr. Harvey Joe Hoffner, 67, of West Point, passed away Monday, August 1, 2016, at his home. Mr. Hoffner was born April 29, 1949, in Mason County, West Virginia, son of the late Lee Albert Hoffner and Yvonne Graham Hoffner. A veteran of service in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War, he lived in Ohio before making his home in Troup County in 1992. He was a member of Middleport Masonic Lodge #363 in Middleport, Ohio and retired as a maintenance technician from Pretty Products in LaGrange. Survivors include his son and daughter in-law, Benjamin and Kimberly Hoffner; grandchildren, Grayson Joe Hoffner, Steven Messer, Matthew Messer and Abigail Messer, all of LaGrange; and his brothers, Mike Bareswilt of Cheshire, OH, Tom Hoffner of Middleport, OH, Roy Bareswilt of Columbus, OH. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., (EDT) Friday, August 5, at the graveside at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery in Fort Mitchell, AL, with the Reverend Doug Boatner officiating, followed by military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Thursday night. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
