Harvey Lee Hammett

Mr. Harvey Lee Hammett, Sr., 72, of Hogansville, passed away, Saturday, December 26, 2015, at Hospice LaGrange. Mr. Hammett was born August 31, 1943, in Heard County, son of the late Jim Brockman Hammett and Ethel Thomaston Hammett Wagner. A resident of Hogansville most of his life, he was a member of Welcome All Baptist Church and was a retired carpenter. Survivors include his girlfriend, Ruby J. Morgan daughter, Sandra Sims; son, Russell Hammett; sisters, Louise Gaddy and Lillie Mae Gaddy, all of Hogansville; daughter in-law, Darlene Hammett of Franklin; 12 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sons, Rocky Hammett and Danny Hammett. The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. (noon), Monday, December 28, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Lynn Janney will officiate and interment will be in Welcome All Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Sunday night. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
