Harold Wesley Banks

Mr. Harold W. Banks, 78, of Franklin, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton. Mr. Banks was born February 20, 1941, in Newnan, son of the late John and Clara Simpkins Banks. A veteran of service in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 until 1965, he returned to Coweta County and was employed by Delta Airlines prior to owning and operating several businesses in Newnan. He owned Banks Furniture Company for ten years and owned WNEA Radio in Newnan for ten years, changing the station's programming to a Christian format. A resident of Franklin for the past ten years, Mr. Banks was an ordained minister, had served several area churches, and was a member of Franklin First Baptist Church. Survivors include his daughter, Robin Legg of Oxford, AL; Randy and Robin Banks of LaGrange; sister, Loyce Rainey of Armuchee; grandchildren, Tiffany and Billy Waddell, Jonathan and Courtney Gilbert, Wesley and Ayla Banks, Justin Banks, Laura Frances Banks; great-grandchildren, Micah Waddell, Leila Waddell, Claudia Waddell, Claire Gilbert, Weston Morris, Olivia Gilbert The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, August 11, at the graveside in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan, with the Reverend Scott Hannah officiating. The family will greet friends at the cemetery. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
