Grace Lofton Swafford

Mrs. Grace Lofton Swafford, 97, of Hampton, passed away Monday, July 18, 2022, at her home. Born May 12, 1925 in Alvaton, Mrs. Swafford was the daughter of the late James Iverson Lofton, Sr. and Cora Avaline Heath. She had been a resident of Hampton since 1965 and was a member of Hampton First Baptist Church. Mrs. Swafford was smart, funny, sweet, and nurturing, and fit the definition of grace. She enjoyed sewing and embroidering, loved desserts, and was the best mother in the whole world. Survivors include her daughter and son in-law, Ann and Joseph Asbury of Jonesboro; sister, Sylvia Thompson of Luthersville; grandchildren, Frances Melissa Whitworth of Hampton and Melanie Johnson of Locust Grove; and a great-grandson, Daniel James Jackson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Swafford was preceded in death by her brothers, Arthur Lofton, Harold Lofton, and James Lofton, Jr.; and a sister, Sarah Holifield.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 14, at the graveside in Alvaton Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Reverend Winston Skinner officiating.
