Mrs. Grace Evelyn Duncan of Hartford, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017 in Greenville, GA at the home of her eldest daughter. She was 88.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Pondtown United Methodist Church with Rev. Robin Blackburn and Pastor Donna Cumbie officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb, Alabama directing.
The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
Mrs. Duncan was born October 22,1928 in Washington D.C. to the late Matthew Keener and Christine Thompson Hughen. Her name described everything about her ~ Grace. In her earlier years she loved gardening, tending to her horses and puzzles. She was a faithful member of Pondtown United Methodist Church and also served as the pianist for some years. She was a strong, kind and loving lady who will be profoundly missed.
In addition to her parents, her husband of 63 years, Darrell Duncan preceded her in death.
Survivors include three daughters: Jo Ann Humphries (Joe), Mary Powell (Bobby) and Yvonne Killman; grandchildren: Jason Humphries (Rhonda), Jessica White (Wendy), Shaun Joiner (Christine), Sherry Backburn (Robin), Chad Osterlund (Katy), Gabe Killman (Jennifer) and Elizabeth Yates (Chuck); 11 great-grandchildren; a very special friend and caretaker, Angela Parks; other extended family and friends.
