Mrs. Girleene R. Barnes, 85, of Hogansville, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2020, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.
Mrs. Barnes was born October 23, 1934, in Emmanuel County, daughter of the late Wiley Brown Rachels and Gertie Maude Ivie Rachels. A resident of Hogansville most of her life, she was a talented seamstress and retired from Playtex International and from RAM Manufacturing. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church and the Red Hat Society and enjoyed needlepoint and sewing.
Survivors include her daughter, Pat and Jim Hamill of LaGrange; sons, Ronald and Joanie Barnes of Grantville, Tim Barnes of Atlanta; daughter in-law, Phyllis Barnes of Hogansville; sister, Jane and Don Bush of Hoschton; 15 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 34 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Barnes; daughter, Diane Arrington; sons, Howard Barnes and Ricky Barnes; five sisters; and one brother.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 8, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Eddie Perry and Lance Dorrough will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Friday night and at other times will be at the home of Pat and Jim Hamil at 212 Perimeter Dr. in LaGrange.
