MRS. GINA ROWE
Mrs. Georgina (Gina) Martin Rowe, 87, of the Rocky Mount Community of Meriwether County, died Sunday, March 23, 2014 at her home.
Born February 10, 1927 in Terra Ceia, FL, Mrs. Rowe was the daughter of the late George and Fannie Williams Martin. She was raised in Meriwether County, having graduated from Luthersville High School in 1943 as valedictorian of her class. Upon her husband's military retirement she returned to Meriwether County in 1973. Mrs. Rowe served as the pianist for Luthersville United Methodist Church and Bethel Baptist Church for 30 years.
As a devoted Air Force spouse, Mrs. Rowe, along with her husband and children, loved traveling throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. She was a member of the Lions Club, United Methodist Women, Air Force Sergeants Association, and Non-Commissioned Officers club. She had a great passion for playing piano and singing, square dancing, won multiple awards for gardening, and enjoyed spending time at the beach whenever she could.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Norman Rowe of Rocky Mount; children, Elizabeth (Tony) Zoumberis of Warner Robbins, Nancy Franco of Sacramento, CA, Norman Rowe Jr. of Rocky Mount, Barbara Lanier of Newnan, Carol (Van) Lowry of LaGrange and Kathleen (Allen) Walton of Woodbury; a sister in-law, Gloria Rowe of Stockbridge; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and 7 nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, at the Luthersville United Methodist Church. The Reverend Tommy Martin, the Reverend Richard Campbell and the Reverend Wayne Sutton will officiate and interment will be in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Rocky Mount.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 7 Monday evening.
