MR. GEORGE D. WALDROP, SR.
Mr. George Daniel Waldrop, Sr., 88, of LaGrange, died Friday, February 14, 2014, at Hospice LaGrange.
The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, February 16, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Eric Rice will officiate and interment will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday.
Mr. Waldrop was born September 7, 1925, in Randolph County, Alabama, son of the late Ocie Daniel Waldrop and Eugie Moriah Rice Waldrop. A U. S. Marine Corps veteran of World War Two, he lived in Troup County most of his life and retired as a truck driver from Motor Convoy after 26 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Laura Cooper Waldrop; daughter, Cheryl Elaine Manning; sons, Donald Ray Waldrop, Larry Dwayne Waldrop and his wife, Dorothy, all of LaGrange; sister, Oralene Boyd of Riverview, AL; brothers, Rurel Waldrop and Edward Waldrop, both of LaGrange; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, George Daniel Waldrop, Jr.; daughter, Laura Jean Smith; and brothers, Dallas Waldrop, Luke Waldrop and Byron Waldrop.
Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
