MR. G. C. TURNER Mr. George (G. C.) Turner, 83, of Hogansville, died Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at Harbor Grace Hospice in Atlanta. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 14, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with military honors. Rev. James Calhoun, Rev. Terry Calhoun, Rev. Robert Barnett, and Kenny Turner will officiate, with interment in the Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Tuesday night. Mr. Turner was born December 11, 1929, in Jersey, Georgia, son of the late Harrison and Beatrice Turner. A veteran of service during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, he retired as a Sergeant from the U.S. Army after thirty years of service, and then served eight years in the National Guard. He was a resident of this area for 25 years, was employed for a number of years at the Coweta County Correctional Institution, and was a member of Victory Tabernacle in Newnan. He was a Mason for many years, having been a member of the Senoia, Sylvan, and Greenville Lodges, and was a past Master of the Aztec, NM Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Turner of Hogansville; sons, Kenny Turner of Aztec, NM, Ricky Turner of Sharpsburg, David Ward of Greenville; daughters, Melody Ahlgrim and April Turner, both of Aztec, NM; step-daughters, Debbie Flournoy of Greenville and Barbara Ganter of Three Rivers, TX; step-son, Danny Lee White of Seattle, WA; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Family Worship Center in Hogansville. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation: from 6 until 8 Tuesday night, August 13th, at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home Services: 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 14th, in the Chapel of Claude A.
