MR. ALLEN SMITH Mr. George Allen Smith, 84, of Hogansville, died Sunday, April 29, 2012, at West Georgia Medical Center. The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 2, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Kenneth Parker and the Reverend Roger Shelnutt will officiate and interment will be in Hillview East Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Monday and Tuesday nights. Mr. Smith was born April 22, 1928, in Randolph County, Alabama, son of the late George Taylor Smith and Katie Brown Smith Daniel. He lived in Troup County most of his life, was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, and retired from the Kex Division of Milliken and Company after 42 years of service. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Smith; daughter and son in-law, Deborah and William Allen; son and daughter in-law, Ricky and Betty Carter, all of Hogansville; sisters and brother in-law, Iona Rogers of Hogansville, Evalene and Cline Farr of LaGrange; grandchildren, Stephanie Davis and Dwayne Carter, both of Valley, AL, Kevin Carter and his wife, Autumn of LaGrange, Hannah Colson and her husband, Alan, Marical Allen, and Amanda Carter, all of Hogansville; and a great-granddaughter, Shelby Davis. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation: from 6 until 8 Monday and Tuesday nights at Claude A.
