George Horace Carter, Jr.

MR. GEORGE H. CARTER, JR. Mr. George H. Carter, Jr., of Columbus, died Thursday, April 11, 2013, at his home. The funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 15, at the graveside in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan. The Reverend Douglas Davis and the Reverend Winston Skinner will officiate. Mr. Carter was born December 15, 1931, in Newnan, son of the late George and Estelle Arnett Carter. A veteran of service in the U. S. Air Force, he was a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology and retired as a quality control engineer from International Playtex. He was Baptist by faith, enjoyed golf and was an avid fisherman. Survivors include his sister, Gwyn Carter Davis and her husband, Douglas, of Columbus; his former wife and dear friend, Dr. Jeanne Carter of Lone Oak; and nieces, Suzette and Michael Moore of Sarasota, FL, Julie and Steven Taylor of Simpsonville, SC, Amy and Jason Hasty of Clarksville, TN. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
