MR. GEORGE W. BISHOP, JR.
Mr. George W. Bishop, Jr., 77, of Manchester, died Sunday, June 20, 2010, at his home.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 23, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home, with the Reverend Debbie Haas Dollar officiating.
Mr. Bishop was born August 2, 1932, in Ponca City, OK, son of the late George and Grace Dauman Bishop. A veteran of service during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, he retired after 20 years service in the U. S. Navy submarine service. He also retired from Gea-Rainey Co. in Tulsa, OK, had made his home in Georgia since 1995, was a Baptist, and was a member of the American Legion in Newnan.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Maxwell Bishop of Manchester; daughter, Susan Gehlbach of Elizabeth, IN; step-daughters, Donna Phillips of Greenville, Debbie Dollar of Hogansville, Lisa Haas of Manchester, Robin Garrison of Newnan, and Jody Murray of Crane, MO; sisters, Connie Wells of Winfield, KS, Pat Overturf of Freeport, FL, Darlene Woolsey, Juanita Epperson, Wanda Jones, and Mary Larimer, all of Ponca City, OK; his twin brother, Gerald Bishop of Tulsa, OK; 21 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. A step-daughter, Terri Vaughn, preceded him in death.
Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
