Gene Autry White, Sr.

Mr. Gene Autry White, Sr.,77 of LaGrange, passed away Monday, January 4, 2021 at his home. Born May 15, 1943 in Albany, GA, Mr. White was the son of the late James Franklin White, Sr. and Alma Meeks White. He was a longtime store manager for Winn-Dixie, had lived in LaGrange for 46 years, and was a member of Freedom House. Mr. White was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in the Vietnam War. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Sharon White of LaGrange; daughter, Wendy Roberts of Pine Mountain; son and daughter in-law, Autry and Angie White of LaGrange; brother, Wade White; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and another great-grandchild soon to arrive. In addition to his parents, Mr. White was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles White and James "PeeWee" White; and sisters Gladys Archer and Edith Alligood. The family will host a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 9, at Freedom House with Pastor Autry White officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 12 until 2 Saturday afternoon. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is assisting the family of Mr. White.
