MR. GENE FREEMAN
Mr. Gene Freeman, 72, of Hogansville, passed away Friday, March 27, 2015, at his home.
Mr. Freeman was born March 9, 1943, in Hogansville, son of the late Junior and Hazel Turner Freeman. A 1961 graduate of Hogansville High School, he served in the U. S. Air Force and then served 31 years with the Clayton County Fire Department, retiring as a lieutenant in 2000. He was an avid coin collector, was Baptist by faith, and supported a number of overseas ministries which assist children.
Survivors include his son Alex Freeman of Athens, AL; daughter, Chelsea Shuford of Hogansville; sisters, Nancy Stekelenburg of Hogansville, Brenda Freeman of Dalton; brothers, Larry Freeman of LaGrange, Tommy Freeman of Locust Grove; grandchildren, Marina Wilkerson, Austin Garrett, Ava Shuford, Khloe Freeman; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 30, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Lamar Truitt will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Sunday night.
