Garold Lee Birdsall

Garold Lee Birdsall, 70, of LaGrange, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2023, at Wellstar Douglas Hospital in Douglasville. His friends and family also knew him as Jerry, Yankee, and Birdman.

Garold was born January 26, 1953, in Michigan Center, Michigan, son of Dorothy Bassett Birdsall Folds, who died in 1995, and Hubert Birdsall, who died in 1997. He attended elementary, junior high, and high school in Michigan Center and had lived in Troup County most of his life. He especially enjoyed working as a landscaper and nurseryman, but had a varied working career having worked as a production and assembly line worker, an auto body repairman, a tree man, a roofer, a mason, and a construction worker.

Survivors include his brother, Arthur Birdsall of LaGrange; sister, Carolyn Lindsay and her husband Bill of Napolean, MI; sister, Phyllis Stewart and her life partner Keith Manning of Hogansville; nine nieces; six nephews; aunt, Ruby Yarbrough of LaGrange; cousins, Joyce Goostrey of Pleasant Lake, MI, Tim Yarbrough and Tracie Young, both of LaGrange; and several great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, and second cousins.

The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, July 23, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Doug Bingham will officiate and interment will be in Louise Baptist Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday.
