Frederick M. "Fred" Woodruff

Mr. Frederick M. "Fred" Woodruff, 87, of Hogansville, passed away Monday, January 15, 2024, at his home.

Mr. Woodruff was born March 21, 1936, in Meriwether County, son of the late Ira and Mittie Mae Garrett Woodruff. A veteran of service in the U.S. Army, he retired from Singer & Company, lived in Lithia Springs for many years, and lived in Jefferson for 19 years before returning to make his home in Meriwether County in 2019. He was a member of Union Baptist Church in Meriwether County and was a former member of First Baptist Church of Lithia Springs and First Baptist Church of Jefferson. Mr. Woodruff loved his family, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a huge UGA Bulldog fan. He especially enjoyed vegetable gardening and was known for his tomatoes, as he planted hundreds of plants and shared his harvest with everyone.

Survivors include his daughters, Debbie and Bill Murray of Hogansville, Kim and Mark Floyd of Villa Rica, Pam and Carl Martin of Jefferson; grandchildren, Will and Trista Murray, Brooke and David Jaye, Stan and Sarah Murray, Steven Floyd, Amberly and Ray Reed, William and Allie Martin, Taylor and Aleida Martin, Aaron and Christa Martin; great-grandchildren, Addie Murray, Mackenzie Murray, Murray Jaye, Braxton Jaye, Carolina Murray, Wyatt Murray, Lennon Reed, Truett Reed, Luke Martin, Liam Martin, Ester Michelle Martin; and his sister, Bobbie Greene of Brinson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtis Jean Lucas Woodruff.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 21, at Union Baptist Church in the St. Marks Community of Meriwether County. The Reverend Brian Haught will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Sunday, prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Union Baptist Church.
