Fred A. O'Neal, Jr.

Mr. Fred A. O'Neal, Jr., 76, of Hampton, passed away Monday, June 7, 2021, at his home. Mr. O'Neal was born April 20, 1945, in Hattiesburg, MS, son of the late Fred Alex O'Neal, Sr. and Doris Watts O'Neal Knight, and was raised by his mother and step-father, the late Alfred Knight. A Army veteran of service in the Vietnam War, he retired from General Motors after working in assembly plants in Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia. He was a member of Calvary Assembly of God in Hampton and taught Bible study courses. He was an avid reader, enjoyed football and fishing, but most of all loved being at home. Survivors include his wife, Shelia O'Neal of Hampton; sons, Brian O'Neal of Hampton, Michael O'Neal and his wife Pam of Milton, WI; brother, Charles Mack O'Neal of Thomasville; and grandchildren, Savannah Grace O'Neal and Cooper Michael O'Neal, both of Milton. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Joe O'Neal. The family is not planning a memorial service at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, 1235 South Clark St., Suite 910, Arlington, VA 22202. Claude A.
