FRANKIE WARYAS
Elizabeth Frances (Frankie) Waryas, 62, of Hogansville and formerly of North Miami Beach, FL, died Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at Hospice LaGrange, of complications from a stroke.
Survivors include her husband, Ed Waryas, and her son and his fiancé, Joseph Waryas and Rebecca Wagner, all of Hogansville; sisters, Sue Waldon of Hogansville and Darlene Merrill of North Carolina; brothers, J.C., Jr. and Lisa Doler of Grantville, Tom and Tina Doler of Luthersville, and Charles and Debra Doler of Dalton; brother in-law, Jimmy Williamson of Grantville; six nieces and nephews; ten great-nieces and great nephews, including a special great-nephew, Ethan Gage Kelly of Hogansville; and a special aunt, Betty Galloway of Hogansville. She was preceded in death by her parents, J. C. Doler, Sr. and Margaret F. Doler; her sister, JoAnn Williamson; and her nephew, Timothy Fowls.
Frankie had a very adventurous life, beginning at an early age. She was a Go-Go Girl with the Candy Johnson Show (Beach Blanket Bingo, Muscle Beach Party) at the 1964 New York Worlds Fair. Later, she began singing country music, moving to Nashville, TN with her singing partner/sister and appearing as Frankie and Suzie Wray. They recorded several records at World International Records and appeared on the Grand Ole Opry, Hee Haw, and at shows across the country.
Along with her husband, Ed, and her sister, Suzie, Frankie bought a restaurant/lounge in Hollywood, FL. They served Italian food, while the lounge was country, leading them to jokingly state that they had their very own spaghetti/western club. After selling the lounge, Frankie went into catering at a very exclusive country club, Indian Creek of Miami Beach. There she catered to stars, coaches and athletes such as Sean Connery, Don and Marianne Shula, Dan Marino, and Julio Iglesias, to name a few.
After living primarily in Florida for 27 years, the Waryases retired and moved to Hogansville. She became a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 152, where she called bingo until her health declined.
