Frank Hornsby, 75 of Jonesboro, was called to his heavenly home on Tuesday, September 7, 2021. He died peacefully at home after a six-year, hard-fought battle with MDS.
Born March 18, 1946, in Hogansville, Mr. Hornsby was the son of the late Preston and Fostina Hornsby. He was a 1964 graduate of Hogansville High School and attended West Georgia College and Georgia State College. He worked in retail and wholesale sporting goods, where he became the Southeastern Regional Sales Manager for a major wholesale sporting goods company.
Frank loved the Lord and loved his family, and was happiest when he was hosting family and friends. In his younger days, he loved fishing and hunting, but in later years, he was content to watch the sun set over the lake and watch the deer graze in his backyard.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, JoAnn Smallwood Hornsby; son and daughter in-law, Robbie and Kathy Hornsby and their sons Gage and Garrett; daughter, Tonya Hornsby Smallwood and her sons Matthew and Clayton; brother, Curtis Hornsby; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hornsby was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Hornsby Landers; and his brother, Tommy Hornsby.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 10, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home. The Reverend Dr. Lamar Truitt and Dr. Richard Hanner will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Thursday evening.
