MR. MIKE VINYARD
Mr. Mike Vinyard, 80, of Hogansville, died Monday, February 24, 2014, at West Georgia Medical Center.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m..Wednesday, February 26, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend S. T. Janney and the Reverend James Calhoun will officiate and interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Tuesday evening.
Mr. Vinyard was born October 17, 1933, in Carrollton, Illinois, son of the late Archie Ivan Vinyard and Nora Kane Vinyard. An Army veteran of the Korean War, he served in the air assault special forces battalion. He served as a lieutenant in the traffic division of the Newnan Police Department, was employed as a heavy equipment operator for a number of years and then assisted his wife in the operation of Ann Vinyard Florist for 35 years. A resident of Hogansville since 1976, he was Baptist by faith, was a Shriner, and served as squadron commander for the Civil Air Patrol at LaGrange-Callaway Airport for two years.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Vinyard of Hogansville; sons, Mark Vinyard of LaGrange and Michael Vinyard and his wife, Mandana of Tarzana, CA; brother, Earl Vinyard of Pittsfield, IL; and grandchildren, Michael Vinyard, Nicholas Vinyard, Caitlin Vinyard, Dallas Vinyard, Denver Vinyard and Morgan Vinyard.
Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
