Ezra E. Whitmore

February 4, 1926 — November 5, 2017

Mr. Ezra E. Whitmore, 91, of Hogansville, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Whitmore was born February 4, 1926, in Carrollton, son of the late Claude and Ida Johnson Whitmore. A resident of Hogansville since 1947, he was an Army veteran of World War Two, retired as a supervisor from Uniroyal, Inc. and was a member of Highland Baptist Church. He served two terms as a member of the Hogansville City Council and was a member of Hogansville Masonic Lodge #93. Survivors include his daughters and sons in-law, Janice and Louis Hughes of Smarr, Joyce and Donny Osborne of Mayo, FL, Ellen Strickland of Luthersville; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Odella Stitcher Whitmore, daughter, Patricia Miles, and grandsons, Steve Wheelus, Phillip Dodson, Jr., and Tim Wheelus. The funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 8, at the graveside in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville. The Reverend Terry Rainwater will officiate followed by Masonic graveside rites. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m., Wednesday. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
