Escar Reed Coleman

January 24, 1940 — December 10, 2015

Mr. Reed Coleman, 75, of Okeechobee, Florida, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2015, at Hospice of Okeechobee. Mr. Coleman was born January 24, 1940, in Coweta County, son of the late Charlie Thurman Colemon and Vesta Harman Colemon. A resident of Florida since 1962, he was a U. S. Air Force veteran, retired as a train engineer from CSX Railroad after 33 years of service, and was Baptist by faith. He was a member of the Moose Club, the Elks Club, the American Legion and VFW. Survivors include his son and daughter in-law, Chuck and Kimberly Coleman of Lake City, FL; sisters and brother in-law, Geneva Dickerson, Edwin and Howard Lowe, all of Hogansville; brothers and sisters in-law, Ray and Frances Colemon of Tucker, Randall and Rhonda Colemon of LaGrange; a grandson, Bradley Reed Coleman; step-sister, LaRose Surowic of Hogansville; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many close friends. The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, December 13, at Highland Baptist Church in Hogansville. The Reverend Terry Rainwater and the Reverend Zachary Masdon will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville. The family will receive friends at Highland Baptist Church from 2:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Highland Baptist Church in Hogansville. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
