Ernest William Hancock

MR. E. W. HANCOCK Mr. Ernest William (E.W.) Hancock, 75, of the Louise Community of Troup County, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2014, at Hospice LaGrange. Mr. Hancock was born August 7, 1939, in Roanoke, Alabama, son of the late Wylie Ernest Hancock and Zona Mae Griffin Hancock. A resident of Troup County for 48 years, he was Baptist by faith and retired from the City of LaGrange. Survivors include his wife, Ann Hancock of Louise; daughters, Kathy Autry of Columbus and Loretta Hancock of Opelika, AL; six grandchildren, Lisa Daniel, Anna Barrett and Jeremy Butler of LaGrange, Dennis Hancock and Christopher Hancock of North Carolina, Casey Butler of Opelika; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sons, Jerry Hancock, Larry Hancock, Timmy Hancock; and his sisters, Ruth McVickers, Thoma Buckner, Bobbie Lou Hancock. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 9, at the graveside in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville, with Dr. Michael Reeves officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Monday night. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
