MRS. ELSIE C. SMITH Mrs. Elsie Conner Smith, 80, of Franklin, died Saturday, October 5, 2013, at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 8, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Minister J. C. Cook and Minister Tim Cook will officiate and interment will be in Ephesus Christian Church Cemetery at Whitesburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Monday night. Mrs. Smith was born October 15, 1932, in Coweta County, daughter of the late Eddie and Hattie Mae Fordham Conner. A former resident of Hogansville, she had lived in Heard County since 1990, retired as a quality inspector from Carter's in Hogansville, and was a member of Ephesus Christian Church. Survivors include her husband, Bill Smith of Franklin; daughters and sons in-law, Robin and Joseph Cole, Beverly and Bill Simmons, Martha and James McCormick, all of Franklin, Susan McCormick and Darnell Williams of Pine Mountain, Rebecca and Charles Woodard of Valley, AL; sisters, Frances Thompson of Grantville, Margaret Matthews of Opelika, AL; 13 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren with another expected soon.
