MRS. ELLA MAE PITTMAN
Mrs. Ella Mae Pittman, 83, of Hogansville, died Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at West Georgia Medical Center.
The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, January 18, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Willow Heim will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Friday night.
Mrs. Pittman was born February 20, 1930, in Roanoke, Alabama, daughter of the late O. K. and Veila Henderson Hamlin. A resident of Hogansville since 1956, she was a homemaker, had assisted her husband in the operation of Pittman's Superette, and was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Hogansville.
Survivors include her son, James Pittman, Jr. and his wife, Carol of Hogansville; daughters, Diane Evans of Spartanburg, SC, Betty Pendergrass and her husband, Levon of Athens, AL and Jean Johnson of Hogansville; brother, Bobby Hamlin of Franklin; thirteen grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Pittman, and daughter, Debbie Pittman Standard. The family offers heartfelt appreciation to Chelsea Shuford for serving as caretaker for Mrs. Pittman during the past year.
