Elaine Veal, 72, of Oxford, Alabama, passed away Friday, at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham.
Ms. Veal was born June 4, 1949, in Hogansville, daughter of the late Henry Delton Veal and Betty Pierce Veal. A former resident of Hogansville, she was employed for many years at Hogansville Pharmacy and had also operated a florist. She was a member of Family Fellowship Baptist Church in Munford, Alabama and enjoyed attending church and singing. She especially enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons and daughters in-law, Tommy and Jeannie Shelnutt of Talladega, Alabama, Tony and Cheryl Shelnutt and Tim Shelnutt all of Hogansville, Travis and Brittany Shelnutt of Gadsden, Alabama; ten grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Rev. Eddie Veal who passed away in May, and by her sister in-law, Joyce Veal who passed away in April.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Monday, June 21, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with the Reverend Donald Spradlin officiating. Interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Sunday night.
