Edward Harrison Friend, Sr.

Mr. Edward H. Friend, Sr., 80, of Hogansville, passed away Monday, March 27, 2023, at Hospice LaGrange.

Mr. Friend was born July 15, 1942, at Ft. Benning, son of the late Joseph Edward Friend and Leila Lucille Pritchard Friend. He retired as a Sergeant after serving as a conservation officer for the Game and Fish Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. He served most of his career in Troup and the eight surrounding counties, served when the first deer were released in Troup County and when West Point Lake was impounded, and was named Georgia Game Warden of the Year in 1970. A veteran of service in the U.S. Navy, he was Baptist by faith, was a member of the Peace Officers Association of Georgia, and enjoyed playing Texas Hold'em Poker, fishing, and spending time with his grandsons.

Survivors include his sons, Ed Friend, Jr. and his wife Tina of Manchester, Michael Friend and his wife Jamie of Hogansville; his sister, Lea Friend Lacey and her husband Jerry and her daughter Shawn Weldon; grandchildren, Brayson Friend and Brent Friend. He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Allen Friend; daughter, Debra Friend Reynolds; brother, Robert Friend; and sister, Lannell Friend.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 1, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home.  The Reverend Jim Hethcox will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday.
