Dura Mae Jones

Mrs. Dura Mae Jones, 88, of Newnan, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018, at her home. Mrs. Jones was born May 10, 1930, in Coweta County, daughter of the late Robert Henry Gaines and Gertrude Coursey Gaines McClain. A resident of Coweta County most of her life, she loved to work and retired after serving many years as a personal caregiver. She had attended Friendship Baptist Church in Newnan until her health declined. Survivors include her daughter, Lorene Hammett; sons, Ronald Barber and Michael Jones, all of Newnan; ten grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Angela Barber Freeman and Deborah Barber Denney. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 13, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend T. J. Boyd will officiate and interment will be in the Grantville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Sunday night. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
