Dura Nell Gordy

July 5, 1929 — October 31, 2010

MRS. DURA NELL GORDY It is with heavy and saddened hearts that we announce the death of our Mother, Dura Nell Gordy, on October 31, 2010 in LaGrange. She was born in Hogansville, raised her children in College Park and returned to Hogansville after her retirement from the City of College Park in 1990. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, J.T. Gordy. Left to forever cherish her sweet and loving spirit and so many fond memories are her three girls, Kaye and her husband Layton Gordy of LaGrange, Deborah and her husband Ford McLain of LaGrange and Pam and her husband Ron Bozek of Peachtree City. She was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend and was as beautiful as she was loving and kind. She will be missed as much as she was loved. Known affectionately as Chee Chee to her grandchildren, Ian, Jason, Matt, Brett and Leighton, Daniella, Ford Peter, and her great-grandchildren, Caleb, Ryan, Timothy, Jacob, Ashlynn, Blake, Benjamin, Sydney, Fuller, Dylan, Guiliana, Alessia, and Lilybet, she gave wholly of herself with unconditional love and delighted in being able to spoil them or fix them a big breakfast during their overnight stays with "Chee Chee and Pop". She was so very proud of her family and they brought her much joy. Additional survivors include sisters, Lilla Stone and Edith Wilkerson and a brother, James Hill along with a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 3, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville.
