Douglas Murphy

Mr. Douglas Murphy, 74, of Hogansville, passed away Friday, November 24, 2017, at Twin Fountains Home in LaGrange. Mr. Murphy was born August 1, 1943, in Houston, Texas, son of the late Reverend Nathan Murphy and Olivia Washington Murphy. A 1962 graduate of Hogansville High School, he lived in Coweta County for many years before returning to Hogansville twenty years ago and retired from William L. Bonnell and Company after forty years of service. He was Baptist by faith, enjoyed gardening, and was an avid golfer. Survivors include his wife, Jean Murphy of Hogansville; his children, Sharon Murphy of Villa Rica, Carol Murphy of St. Simons Island, Martin and Janee Murphy of Brunswick, Jennifer Robinson of Newnan, Susan and James Garrett of Franklin; brothers, Danny and Jackie Murphy of Newnan, David and Peggy Murphy of Brooks; sister, Debbie and Danny Johnson of Albany; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family will plan a memorial service at a later time. Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.
