Douglas E. Matthews

Mr. Douglas E. Matthews, 81, of LaGrange, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2023, at Hospice LaGrange.

Mr. Matthews was born July 22, 1942, in Fairburn, son of the late Frank and Lula Mae Cochran Matthews. A resident of LaGrange for many years, he was a member of Creekside Baptist Church and was a retired auto mechanic. He was known to be a jack of all trades who could fix anything, especially if it had a motor.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Fincher Matthews and is survived by his daughter, Traci Bailey of LaGrange and her son and daughter, Christopher Mallett and Heather Bailey, and her grandchildren, Corbin-John Kenneth Mallett, Jacob Mallett, Carli Mallett, and Khloe Mallett. He is also survived by his son, Jeffrey Matthews and granddaughter, Elizabeth.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 5, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Bryan Geter will officiate and interment will be in the Pine Mountain Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
