Mrs. Dorothy Westmoreland Henderson, 95, of Griffin and formerly of Hogansville, passed away Friday, January 3, 2020, at Brightmoor Senior Living.
Mrs. Henderson was born November 12, 1924, in Henry County, daughter of the late Andrew Byron Westmoreland and Lily Patterson Westmoreland. A longtime member of Highland Baptist Church in Hogansville, she was employed by Uniroyal, Inc. for a number of years, then served as a licensed practical nurse, and retired as a para-professional from Crocker Elementary School in Hogansville. She enjoyed studying her Bible, was an avid reader, and loved poetry, but the central focus of her life was her love for her family.
Survivors include her daughters and sons in-law, Judy and Chuck Evans of Peachtree City, Sue and Dennis Johnson of Hogansville; sisters; Ann Gasses of Monticello, Norma Westmoreland of Hampton; grandchildren, Chad Evans of Washington, DC, Matt Johnson of LaGrange, Julie Evans Folsom and her husband Alan of Valdosta, Bill Johnson and his wife Kristy of Hogansville; and great-grandchildren, Kalea Johnson, Dylan Johnson, Blake Johnson, Abby Johnson, Evan Folsom, Emily Folsom. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Henderson and her grandson, Jeff Johnson.
The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, January 5, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Terry Rainwater will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 until 4 Sunday afternoon.
