Mrs. Dorothy Norris Cato, 83, of Bowdon and formerly of Greenville, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Carrollton Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Mrs. Cato was born October 13, 1942, in Meriwether County, daughter of the late Fletcher Marion Norris and Beverly Louise Beggs Norris. A lifelong resident of Meriwether County before making her home in Bowdon in 2024, she retired from Lanier Clothes in Greenville and faithfully attended New Friendship Baptist Church in Woodbury. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of her family.
Survivors include her daughter and son in-law, Stacy and Doyle Folds of Bowdon; granddaughters and grandsons in-law, Savannah and Jeremy York of Carrollton, Gracie and Austin Lovvorn of Ranburne, AL; a great-granddaughter, Aubrey York and a second great-granddaughter, Ellie Mae Lovvorn, soon to arrive; sisters, Patsy and Sammy Bridges of Woodbury, Nancy James of Manchester; brother, Larry and Jackie Norris of Panama City, FL; sisters in-law, Patricia Hurst and Susan Cato, both of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cato was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Cato, Jr.; and her sister, Barbara Whatley.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 8, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Brother Tim Hosmer and Brother Gary Stewart will officiate and interment will be in the Greenville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Saturday, prior to the service.
