MRS. DORIS S. MADARIS
Mrs. Doris Shelnutt Madaris, 84, of Newnan, passed away Monday, August 3, 2015, at Roosevelt Warm Springs Rehab and Specialty Hospital.
Mrs. Madaris was born November 20, 1930, in Centralhatchee, daughter of the late Walter and Lena Adams Shelnutt. A 1947 graduate of Centralhatchee High School, she was a member of Glenloch Baptist Church in Heard County. She lived in Coweta County most of her life and retired from West Point Pepperell in Newnan.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Madaris Marshall of Newnan; sons, Steve Madaris of Newnan, Jackie and Margie Madaris of Moreland; grandsons, Jackie Madaris, Jr. and Jason Madaris; great-grandson, Parker William Madaris; brother, Earl Shelnutt; sisters in-law, Martha Shelnutt and Nancy Madaris, both of Newnan; brother in-law, Eddie Madaris of Sargent; and a number of nieces and nephews who she dearly loved. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert W. Madaris; sister, Fannie Mae Nelms; and brothers, Luke Shelnutt, Aubrey Shelnutt, Avery Shelnutt, J. D. Shelnutt, Pete Shelnutt, and an infant brother.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 6, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Billy Cochran will officiate and interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Wednesday night.
