MRS. DORIS M. GARNER
Mrs. Doris McCoy Garner, 102, of the Rocky Mount Community of Meriwether County, passed away Friday, July 31, 2015, at her home.
Mrs. Garner was born June 20, 1913, in Rocky Mount, a daughter of the late John and Lizzie Cook McCoy. A resident of the Atlanta area most of her life, she returned to Rocky Mount in 2006 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro.
Survivors include her son and daughter in-law, Carlton and Linda Garner of Rocky Mount; sisters, Kitty Smith of Moreland, Eleanor Garner and Gwendolyn Gradolph of Fayetteville; brother and sister in-law, Nelson and Carleen McCoy of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Steve and Lynn Garner, Stacey Garner, Tandra and Walter Coleman, Shelly and Ken Pacheco, Michael and Lisa Wilson, Ricky Wilson, Rhonda and John McLean; fifteen great-grandchildren; nineteen great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil C. Garner; daughter, Melba Becker; grandson, Charles C. Garner; sisters, Lucile Daniel and Nellie Rowe; and brothers, Leon McCoy and Wilbur McCoy.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 3, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Pastor Jimmy Lester will officiate and interment will be in Westview Cemetery in Atlanta at 1:30 p.m.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8, Sunday evening.
