MRS. DORA EAST VARGAS
Mrs. Dora East Vargas, 84, of Chouteau, Oklahoma, passed away on April 19, 2012 in Claremore, Oklahoma.
The funeral service will be conducted at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, April 26, at the graveside in the Grantville Cemetery, with the Reverend Jimmy Evans officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m., Thursday.
Mrs. Vargas was born September 14, 1927 in LaGrange, daughter of the late Benjamin and Fairy Powers East. While living in Miami, Florida, she worked as a cook on a private yacht for millionaire owners and had the opportunity to meet several movie stars. She loved to dance and listen to music; enjoyed being outdoors working with her flowers and shrubs; liked to laugh; and was known for her wonderful southern accent. Dora married Frank Vargas Sr. in 1975, in Miami and moved to Chouteau in 1978, where she had worked for Grand Valley Hospital, and was a member of the Tulsa Moose Lodge and the Pryor Elks Lodge. She was a lovely lady who dearly loved her family and all her many friends
Dora is survived by her husband, Frank Vargas Sr. of Chouteau, OK; sons, Perry Wayne Kineard of Georgia, Frank Vargas Jr. and Anthony Vargas, both of Pryor, OK; daughters, Connie J. Phillips of West Virginia, Mary Vargas, Fran Vargas and Terrie Hollis all of Pryor; her brother, Charles East and wife, Janice, of Grantville, GA; ; sister, Betty Harper of Jackson, MS; several brothers-in-law and sisters in-law living in Oklahoma and California; grandchildren and great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Alfred Gaines East.
