Mr. Dewey R. Ward, 87, of Bogue Chitto, Mississippi and formerly of Meriwether County, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2016, at his home, with his loving family by his side. Mr. Ward was born on September 1, 1929 in Manchester, son of the late Dewey R. Ward and Sarah Augusta Roberts Ward Richards. A veteran of service in the U. S. Air Force, he was in insurance sales and was self-employed in the printing industry. Mr. Ward was a Mason and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Brookhaven, Mississippi. Preceding him in death were his parents; first wife, Kathryn Joan Baker Ward; son, Dewey Rusty Ward; and sisters, Anne Lawrence and Lois Ward. Survivors include his wife, Willie Cole Ward of Bogue Chitto; daughter, Lydia Garner and her husband Alan of Flowery Branch; son, Douglas Randy Ward and his wife Anne of Roswell; sister, Bobbie Baker; and a number of other family members and friends. The graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 18, in the Greenville Cemetery, with the Reverend Jonathan Porter officiating. The family will greet friends at the graveside.
