Dewey Lee Garrett, Sr.

Mr. Dewey L. Garrett, Sr., 79, of LaGrange, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016, at Hospice LaGrange. Mr. Garrett was born January 25, 1936, in LaGrange, son of the late Sidney and Nellie Smith Garrett. A lifelong resident of Troup County, he was a retired masonry contractor and was a member of Living Waters Baptist Church. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and camping. Survivors include his daughter, Sabrina Aalto and her husband, Jay; sons, Dewey Lee Garrett, Jr and John Sidney Garrett and his wife, Carol, all of LaGrange; sisters, Barbara Washington and Pearl Morgan; brother, Homer Garrett, all of LaGrange; grandchildren, Matt Jordan, Kevin Aalto, and Stefanie Whaley; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Denny Garrett; daughter, Dollie Garrett; and sister, Betty Bloom. The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 13, at Living Waters Baptist Church. The Reverend Richard Clinard and the Reverend S. T. Janney will officiate and interment will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Tuesday night. Claude A.
